World Book Day: Authors, Publishers and Booksellers Call for International Support

We, the undersigned representatives of the global book industry urge governments all over the world to recognize, support and celebrate the importance of books, learning solutions, and professional and scholarly content by adopting economic stimulus packages to sustain their respective publishing sectors and the value chains that surround them.
Sharjah takes over from Athens as World Book Capital City

On 23 April, World Book and Copyright Day, Sharjah (United Arab Emirates) took over from Athens (Greece) as UNESCO’s World Book Capital City for 2019. The handover was marked with an opening ceremony attended by IPA’s President, Vice President and Secretary General.
World Book & Copyright Day takes off around the globe

Since 1995, the 23rd of April (birth date of Shakespeare and Cervantes) has been designated by UNESCO as World Book & Copyright Day, with many events taking place to celebrate books, authors and reading.
