Guadalajara, Mexico to be UNESCO World Book Capital 2022

The Director-General of UNESCO, Audrey Azoulay, has named the Mexican city Guadalajara World Book Capital for the year 2022, following the recommendation of the World Book Capital Advisory Committee, which includes IPA.

UNESCO has opened nominations for the World Book Capital City in 2022 with a deadline of 25 June. UPDATE 4 May 2020 Deadline extended to Friday 14 August 2020.

Athens has been named World Book Capital 2018 by the Director General of UNESCO, Irina Bokova, on the recommendation of the Advisory Committee, comprising representatives of the IPA, the International Federation of Library Associations and Institutions (IFLA), and UNESCO, which met at UNESCO headquarters, in Paris.
