Sustainability and Post COVID-19 take centre stage at IPA General Assembly
The International Publishers Association General Assembly on Monday 23 November was marked by the results of the association’s elections but also featured the publication of a COVID-19 stocktaking report and guest speeches from United Nations Secretary General, António Guterres and Booker-shortlisted author, Tsitsi Dangarembga.
Affordable and clean energy — Books for Sustainable Development Goal 7 announced
On 16 December 2019 the seventh list of books for the UN SDG Book Club were announced. The list of titles in all six official UN languages, aimed at children aged 6-12, focuses on the seventh sustainable development goal – affordable and clean energy.
Criminal defamation laws – barriers to the Freedom to Publish
During the 38th United Nations Human Rights Council meeting in Geneva at the end of June, PEN International held a parallel event (video here) to promote its recently published investigation into defamation laws in Africa.
