Before Frankfurt Book Fair had even finished, IPA’s attention was drawn back to Geneva where WIPO was holding an International Conference on Copyright Limitations and Exceptions for Libraries, Archives, Museums and Educational & Research Institutions before the week-long Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights.
IPA Responds to Brazilian Copyright Consultation

Brazil’s State Secretariat for Culture held a public consultation to assess the need to review the Brazilian Copyright Act 1998. The consultation, which closed on September 15, 2019, aimed at establishing priorities among options such as modernizing copyright for the digital era, regulating collective management and adopting WIPO’s Internet Treaties.

The third and final World Intellectual Property Organisation (WIPO) regional seminar took place on 4-5 July. IPA President, Hugo Setzer and Secretary General José Borghino led a strong team of publishers from the Latin American and Caribbean regions.

Summary of the WIPO SCCR 35

The November meeting of the World Intellectual Property Organisation’s Standing Committee on Copyright and Related Rights (SCCR) was as intense as always. But the week-long meeting (3-7 November) carried extra significance for the IPA because of the large delegation we had organized to be here in Geneva.
