The emotional ceremony for the IPA 2019 Prix Voltaire was held in Seoul, Korea on 21 June where Khaled Lotfy’s brother, Mahmoud, received the prize on his behalf and delivered a powerful speech asking for Egyptian President el-Sisi to grant the publisher a pardon.
IPA delegation visits Georgia for the book fair and other meetings

Sänger confirmed as new IPA Copyright Committee Chair

The International Publishers Association (IPA) confirms Dr Jessica Sänger, Director for European and International Affairs at Börsenverein des Deutschen Buchhandels (the German Publishers and Booksellers Association) as the new Chair of the IPA’s Copyright Committee, taking over from the Publishers Association’s William Bowes who has stepped down.

On 23 April, World Book and Copyright Day, Sharjah (United Arab Emirates) took over from Athens (Greece) as UNESCO’s World Book Capital City for 2019. The handover was marked with an opening ceremony attended by IPA’s President, Vice President and Secretary General.
