IPA in North America

IPA’s President, Vice President and Secretary General followed up on their Asian tour of August with a trip to North America in September. The review of the Canadian Copyright Act, a meeting with senior representatives of IFLA, attending the AAP’s General Assembly plus the SDG Book Club were all on the agenda.

At the end of August, IPA’s President and Vice President continued their tour of Asia with visits to IPA members in Japan and South Korea with IPA’s Secretary General going to Singapore..

In August 2015 the IPA General Assembly, comprising representatives from across the IPA membership, granted full member status to the Saudi Publishers Association (SPA). This step, according to SPA chief executive officer, Abdulrahman Alhamdan, immediately gave the SPA greater clout at home, and gave fresh impetus to its interactions with the Saudi government — particularly over freedom to publish.
