IPA delegation visits Georgia for the book fair and other meetings
A high-level IPA delegation, consisting of President Hugo Setzer, Secretary General José Borghino and the Chair of the Educational Publishers Forum (EPF), Wilmar Diepgrond, visited Tbilisi, Georgia, from 29 May to 2 June, to attend the Tbilisi International Book Fair, among other activities.

Sharjah takes over from Athens as World Book Capital City
On 23 April, World Book and Copyright Day, Sharjah (United Arab Emirates) took over from Athens (Greece) as UNESCO’s World Book Capital City for 2019. The handover was marked with an opening ceremony attended by IPA’s President, Vice President and Secretary General.
Kuala Lumpur announced as UNESCO World Book Capital City 2020
Malaysian capital, Kuala Lumpur, has been confirmed as the 2020 UNESCO World Book Capital City to follow Athens (2018) and Sharjah (2019).

Publishers at WIPO seminars at Lima Book Fair and in Kuala Lumpur
Over the summer WIPO held seminars in Peru and Malysia. IPA helped ensure publishers were present to discuss ‘Managing Copyright in the Publishing Industry in the Digital Age’ and the ‘Marrakesh Treaty’.
